The group features the classic quintet line-up, and for this performance will be joined by singer Lily Dior to perform selections from the much-loved Beauty and the Beat album recorded with Peggy Lee, and The Swinging’s Mutual album with Nancy Wilson. The band also features internationally acclaimed vibraphonist Nat Steele.
Shearing found fame after settling in the US in the late 1940s. The repertoire includes his best-known compositions and arrangements, including Lullaby of Birdland and September in the Rain, alongside lesser-known gems such as Consternation and Quintessence.
Nick formed the band in 2021, following the instrumentation of the classic Shearing Quintet from the 1950s and 60s.
